Middle Avenue Caltrain Crossing Project City Council study session

The Menlo Park City Council will discuss the next steps for the Middle Avenue Caltrain Crossing Project at a study session Jan. 27. This project will construct a pedestrian and bicycle undercrossing of the Caltrain railroad near Middle Avenue, connecting Alma Street near Burgess Park to El Camino Real at the open space plaza that is part of Stanford’s Middle Plaza at 500 El Camino Real project.

Apply for the East Palo Alto Sanitary District advisory committee

Menlo Park is seeking applicants to represent the City on the East Palo Alto Sanitary District (EPASD) advisory committee. Committee members serve on the EPASD advisory board, advise on operational matters and review annual budgets. Interested Menlo Park residents over the age of 18 who live in the EPASD service area are encouraged to apply by 5 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13.

Temporary pedestrian detour at Bedwell Bayfront Park entrance

The pedestrian entry access to Bedwell Bayfront Park will be modified temporarily to allow for construction work by the West Bay Sanitary District. A detour will be in place, and pedestrians will be routed to an existing nearby path as an alternative point of entry.

Annual water flushing program 2025

Menlo Park Municipal Water has started to conduct its annual water main flushing. The work will continue through December and conclude in February. The process of flushing water mains may cause some disruptions, such as temporary reduction in water pressure or brown water.

Gunfire report downgraded to fireworks after police response

MPPD dispatch received a call reporting a person possibly armed with a gun in the area of Valparaiso Ave and Hallmark Cir and a report of possible shots fired. Officers responded to the area but did not locate anyone matching the description provided. Upon further clarification from the reporting party, a gun was not seen and the sound heard was determined to be fireworks.

City administrative office closures and holiday impacts

City offices will be closed from Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025 through Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026 for the holidays. City offices will re-open Friday, Jan. 2, 2026. Menlo Park Shuttles will be out of service Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2026. Menlo Park and Belle Haven Library will be closed Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2026. Also, on Dec. 31, both libraries will close at 6 p.m.
