Extended road closure on Independence Drive the week of April 27
Published on April 20, 2026
Beginning the week of April 27, Independence Drive at the intersection with Constitution Drive will be fully closed for approximately 10 weeks to allow for construction work as part of the West Bay Sanitary District's Bayfront Recycled Water Project.
The project will be excavating a receiving pit within the roadway for a new recycled water supply pipeline. Due to the size, depth and location of the receiving pit, the roadway will remain closed throughout the duration of excavation, pipeline installation, backfill and surface restoration.
Road closure and detour signs will be in place throughout the duration of the project. All properties within the vicinity of the work location will remain accessible, but minor delays should be anticipated due to detour routes.
For further project information, questions or contractor concerns please contact West Bay Sanitary District directly at 650-321-0384.
