Nick Szegda selected as new Library and Community Services director

Nick Szegda has been selected as the new Library and Community Services director. Szegda brings 33+ years of experience within the City of Menlo Park. He started as a part-time employee in the library and grew his career to take on a variety of roles, including overseeing every division within the Library and Community Services department including library, recreation, sports, seniors and childcare. Szegda most recently served as the Assistant Director of Library and Community Services since 2020.
“Nick’s extensive knowledge of our city as well as his strong relationships with staff, city departments and local partners, are a huge asset in this role,” said Justin Murphy. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Nick throughout his career and am excited that he will continue to utilize his creativity, innovation and leadership to further the goals of the Library and Community Services team.”
Szegda earned a B.A. in telecommunications from the University of Tampa, an MFA in film/video from the California Institute of the Arts and a M.S. in library science from San José State University.
