Resubmittal of Plans

Definition

Resubmittal of plans are updated plans and documents based plan check comments related to projects that are still under plan review. A resubmittal of plans differs from revisions to issued permits and deferred submittals.

  • Revisions to an issued permit are updates to the plans after a Building permit has been issued. (Please see Revisions to Issued Permits for submittal information)
  • Deferred submittals are a portion of a construction design not included in the initial Building permit application and submitted after permit issuance for review and approval(Please see Revisions to Issued Permits for submittal information)

Resubmittal of Plans Process

The City of Menlo Park only accepts on-line digital resubmittals of digital plans and supporting documents. All plans and supporting documents are to be submitted digitally through the City’s Accela permit management system using the Accela Citizen Access Portal (ACA). Please visit the Building Division’s Online service web page for information associated with how to register for an ACA account. The digital file specifications for all plans can be found on the Online services page under File specifications.

  1. Log into the Accela Citizen Access Portal (ACA), click on the "My Records" header, and select the applicable record the revision is for. If you do not see the permit under the My Records header, please contact the Permit Team with all permit/account details in order to be associated to the record. Please include all relevant documentation of association with that record.
  2. Once the applicable project record has been selected, click on "Record Info" tab, and then "Attachments" from the drop down menu. (see image below)
  3. On the Attachments sub-page, upload PDF(s) of required submittal items, such as: updated plans based on plan check comments plans, plan check comment-response letter, any other updated or requested documents (arborist report, e.g.); all items should be categorized and described as accurately as possible. All documents shall follow the original required file specifications when the application was submitted. 
  4. Permit staff will review submitted items and either:
  • Route to the plan review team for review if the submittal is complete; or
  • Notify the customer via email regarding any missing information/documents. When this occurs, all update information/documents follows the same process as above.
