Nealon Park and Dog Park

Nealon-Park-all-abilities-playground

Located off of El Camino and Middle Ave., Nealon Park (previously known as Menlo Recreation Park) is one of the City of Menlo Park's most popular parks. The park features a softball field, open field space, tennis and pickleball courts, a dog park, and is home to an updated all-abilities playground that meets the seven principles of inclusive design.

Nealon Park was named after James J. Nealon. Nealon was the chairman of the San Mateo County Youth Activity Committee. After retiring from 48 years in the U.S. Customs Service in San Francisco, Nealon worked tirelessly to provide local boys with athletic opportunities, including basketball and baseball. On April 27, 1948, the Menlo Park City Council voted to rename the nine-acre park Nealon Park.
