Menlo Park Library is now energized by rooftop solar!

The Menlo Park Library is now powered by solar energy! As of March 1, the library's new rooftop solar system is fully operational and generating clean electricity for the community. This is a major step toward the City's goal of eliminating fossil fuel use in municipal operations by 2030 and reducing costs for Menlo Park taxpayers for decades to come.

RethinkWaste announces 2026 Trash to Art contest — submit by March 30

To celebrate Earth Month, RethinkWaste is excited to announce its annual Trash to Art contest, which is open to students in grades three-five within its service area. The contest encourages children to collect recyclable or trash materials and create a piece of art in any medium. Individual and class submissions are due by Monday, March 30, at 4 p.m. to the RethinkWaste Office.

City Hall solar carport continuing through March

Work on the solar PV carport systems at City Hall is scheduled to begin soon. The contractor, McMillan Electric, will be putting up construction fencing to close most of the lot between City Hall and the Gymnastics Center on Friday, Feb. 26. Alternative parking will be available in the other parking lots at the Burgess Campus.

Solar panel installation at City Hall

Home upgrade services now available citywide

Menlo Park is now offering no-cost home electrification upgrades to all income-eligible single-family households citywide. Nov. 18, the City Council expanded the Home Upgrade Services program to include more residents. For example, a family of four with an annual income at or below $223,900 (120%of the San Mateo County area median income) now qualifies.

Scout Troop 109 plants trees with Menlo Park staff Dec. 4

On Dec. 4, Menlo Park’s Scout Troop 109 joined the City’s Public Works Trees Team and a few members of the Police Department to plant two Red Ruby Horsechestnut trees near the Gymnastics Center and the back entrance of the Recreation Center.
