This year, the Menlo Park Safe Routes to School Program teamed up with the Library to host a Bike to the Library event. On May 16, over a hundred participants, children, parents, caregivers and residents joined to celebrate Bike Month with a series of bike themed activities at the Menlo Park Library. The afternoon program included bike themed story time, a bike skills course with Safe Moves, helmets giveaways, pedal-powered spin art, a bike repair station with the local organization Live in Peace and more!
Community members and organizations also tabled at the event, in particular Caltrain, SamTrans, displaying the new electric bus, the Police Department, the San Mateo County Office of Education and Office of Sustainability, Wheel Kids and the Menlo Park Fire Department.
A few Hillview Middle School students also helped at the Safe Routes to School table, distributing materials and assisting with the bike spin art.
The event brought the community together through the joy of bicycling.
