After six weeks of presentations, demonstrations and interactive exercises, 15 participants completed the Menlo Park Community Police Academy on Feb. 19.
The participants are commended for their commitment and active involvement in this program learning about the various aspects of public safety. The curriculum consisted of presentations and practical, hands-on exercises in areas of laws of arrest, crime scene investigations, traffic enforcement, narcotics enforcement, firearms, defensive tactics, S.W.A.T. operations and many other law enforcement functions and responsibilities. Participants also had the opportunity to participate in a ride-a-long and tour the department.
Various officers and staff facilitated on topics in their areas of knowledge, skill and experience. There were also presentations from the San Mateo District Attorney’s Office and the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center (PCRC).
