The Menlo Park SRTS Program has created a brand-new resource to educate the community to safe walking, biking and driving. The Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety Handbook (English(PDF, 2MB)/ Español(PDF, 3MB)) offers safety tips, techniques to stay safe in Menlo Park streets and shows the different infrastructures road users may encounters in Menlo Park and how to navigate them.
The last section of the Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety Handbook (English(PDF, 2MB)/ Español(PDF, 3MB)) is dedicated to driving tips focused on pedestrian and bicyclist safety. This includes information such as:
The new driver section is filled with data and graphics to raise awareness for the importance of protecting others when driving. Readers will also find definitions and examples of street markings and treatments such as yield lines (shark teeth), speed humps and curb extensions.
All images from the handbook are available for download on the Menlo Park SRTS website. We hope the community can use the handbook language and graphics to create fliers, newsletters or other communication materials around safety. If you have questions, contact the SRTS Coordinator at saferoutestoschool@menlopark.gov.
