Having your pet microchipped is a great, inexpensive way to ensure that they have permanent identification. Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA offers low-cost pet microchipping. Each microchip has a unique electronic serial number that animal shelters and veterinary clinics can scan and research to try and reunite lost pets with their owners. Microchipping is an additional way to reunite lost pets with their families. If your pet has a microchip, make sure that your contact information is up to date.
Need a microchip? You can bring your pet to the San Mateo shelter at 12 Airport Blvd. to be microchipped for a fee of $30 anytime during open hours (Monday–Friday 11 a.m.–7 p.m. and on the weekends 11 a.m.–6 p.m.) or by appointment at a Vaccination and Microchip Clinic on the the first and third Saturday of the month from 9–10:50 a.m. and on the second Wednesday of the month from 6–7:50 p.m.
