Fees associated with development projects are charged by the City of Menlo Park and by other outside agencies. Fees charged by the City are typically from the Building and Planning Divisions of the Community Development Department and the Public Works Department.
Building plan check fees are required to be paid at permit application and all remaining fees are required to be paid prior to permit issuance. The City of Menlo Park Master Fee Schedule(PDF, 772KB) lists all fees, and charges for services provided by the City. The Building Division fees start on page 27 of the Master Fee Schedule.
The The Menlo Park Fire Protection District (MPFPD) and West Bay sanitary District (WBSD) are separate and independent agencies from the City of Menlo Park and charge fees for development projects permits that require permits from them. Verification of permit approval by these agencies is required to be submitted to the City prior to permit issuance.

Assembly Bill 2926, Section 17620 in the California Government Code, authorized school districts to levy school developer fees on new remodels and additions for residential and commercial/industrial development projects. School Developer Fees are a one-time fee that is not associated with and will not be added to your property taxes. Payment verification is required to be submitted to the City prior to permit issuance.
