The City is excited to share that Menlo Park has been selected to participate in Cycle 5 of the San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) School Travel Fellowship (STF). Over the next year, the City will partner with Menlo Park schools to advance active transportation and enhance traffic safety.

The STF team will explore the feasibility of implementing a temporary traffic garden in Menlo Park. A traffic garden is a child-sized, car-free streetscape featuring stop signs, crosswalks and mini-intersections — many of the same features that children will encounter on city streets. Through the SMCOE STF, the City and Menlo Park schools will work together to assess the feasibility of implementing a temporary traffic garden.
