The Safe Routes to School Task Force brings together parents, school staff, principals, superintendents, city and county staff and community partners to improve safety and accessibility for students walking and biking to school. The task force meets quarterly to discuss challenges, share ideas and identify opportunities to support active and healthy school travel in Menlo Park.

Representatives from the four local school districts, Menlo Park and Atherton police departments, San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, San Mateo County Office of Education, city and county public works departments and local organizations are all invited — alongside parents who provide valuable insight into the needs and experiences of students and families.

The first Task Force meeting of the school year took place on Thursday, Sept. 11, but it’s not too late to get involved. Task Force meetings will be held via Zoom. Upcoming meetings for the 2025-26 school year are scheduled for:

Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025
Thursday, March 12, 2026
Thursday, June 11, 2026

Meetings provide a forum to learn more about Safe Routes to School programs, hear updates on projects and collaborate on strategies to make walking and biking safer in Menlo Park.
