Candidate filing for the November Election now open

Election season is approaching. As of today, Monday, July 13, candidate filing for the Nov. 3 election is now open and closes at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. 

The Nov. 3 election will have the following seats on the ballot:

District 1 (full term – four years)

District 2 (full term – four years)

District 4 (full term – four years)

Registered voters will vote only for the City Council seat in their district. To review which district you live in, please visit menlopark.gov/elections.

Individuals who wish to run for one of the three seats on the November ballot must:

  • Be registered to vote in and live in the district in which they are running
  • Set up an appointment with the city clerk by email at jaherren@menlopark.gov or phone (650)-330-6621 to begin the candidate filing process
  • Complete all necessary paperwork with the city clerk’s office by 5 p.m. Aug. 7

The San Mateo County Elections Division is holding a candidate seminar July 22 at 10 a.m. This seminar will cover important topics including filing deadlines, filing forms, candidate statements, campaign finance reports and voter data.
