On Tuesday, May 19, at 6 p.m., the City Council will review proposed updates to the City’s ADU Ordinance, consider the Planning Commission’s recommendation and determine whether to introduce the ordinance. On April 13, the Planning Commission recommended that the City Council adopt a new ADU Ordinance with changes to eliminate parking and offer more flexibility for floor area exceedances. The updated ADU Ordinance would comprehensively replace and update Chapter 16.79 (Accessory Dwelling Units) of the Menlo Park Municipal Code for consistency with State ADU law and incorporate local objective standards. Community members are encouraged to review the staff report and participate in the May 19 City Council meeting. Following the May 19 meeting, a second reading to adopt the ADU Ordinance is tentatively scheduled for the June 9 City Council meeting.
