Encouraging carpooling – a key climate action strategy

The San Mateo County Office of Education and Sustainability Department developed a toolkit with information and actionable steps to encourage carpooling between families. Carpooling can have a significant impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and is an important climate action strategy. In addition to the environmental benefits, carpooling promotes community and social connection. The toolkit includes template letters, social media posts, fact sheets, guides and recommendations for apps to facilitate carpooling.

We encourage families and school staff to review the toolkit to learn more about the benefits of carpooling, and how they can encourage carpooling in their community.
