Super Bowl LX: Sign up for emergency alerts during Bay Area events
Published on January 26, 2026
Officials are expecting over 100,000 visitors in the Bay Area for Super Bowl LX. There will be a week of events leading up to the Super Bowl at Levi Stadium Feb. 8. The impacts on traffic are likely to be greater than the Super Bowl hosted in Santa Clara 10 years ago as events will now occur throughout the region in San Francisco, Daly City, Santa Clara and San Jose.
To help keep everyone safe and informed, officials from Santa Clara County, the City of Santa Clara, San Mateo County and the City and County of San Francisco are coordinating public safety efforts. Residents and visitors are strongly encouraged to sign up for free, event-specific emergency text alerts to receive timely, potentially lifesaving information during Super Bowl week.
How to sign up for Super Bowl LX alerts:
Depending on where you plan to be during Super Bowl week, text the appropriate keyword to receive emergency notifications from local public safety agencies:
- San Mateo County:
Text SuperBowl to 672-83
(Recommended for those traveling through or staying in San Mateo County)
- Santa Clara County / Levi’s Stadium area:
Text SBLX to 888-777
(Covers the stadium vicinity and countywide alerts)
- San Francisco:
Text SuperBowlSF to 888-777
(Tailored alerts for Super Bowl-related events in San Francisco)
Once subscribed, you may receive text messages about significant emergencies or public safety announcements, such as unexpected road closures, public transit disruptions, severe weather or security-related incidents.
These Super Bowl alert subscriptions are temporary and event-specific. Once Super Bowl activities conclude, participants will automatically be removed from receiving Super Bowl alerts.
Please note that these alerts are supplemental and do not replace SMC Alert, which is the primary emergency notification system in San Mateo County. Those already enrolled in SMC Alert will continue to receive routine emergency notifications.

Lastly, consider taking Caltrain to attend events the week before the Super Bowl and on Feb. 8 to avoid traffic impacts. Learn more about Caltrain and Super Bowl events.
