Friday, Nov. 14, schools across Menlo Park joined students and families throughout California in celebrating Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. This annual event honors Ruby Bridges, who at just six years old became the first Black student to integrate an all-white elementary school in New Orleans in 1960. Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day provides an opportunity for students, families and school communities to walk together while learning about the importance of civil rights and student voice in shaping a more inclusive future.

If your school hosted an event, please share your highlights and pictures by emailing SafeRoutesToSchool@menlopark.gov.
