SAFER Bay Project meetings in Menlo Park Dec. 17 and 18

The San Francisquito Creek Joint Powers Authority (SFCJPA), in partnership with the Cities of Menlo Park and East Palo Alto, has released the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the SAFER Bay Project. This long-term flood protection and sea level rise adaptation effort aims to safeguard local neighborhoods, infrastructure and sensitive habitat areas along the Bay shoreline.

The DEIR is now available on the project webpage. Community members are invited to review the document and provide comments during the public comment period, which runs through Jan. 23, 2026, at 5 p.m.

Residents, organizations and stakeholders may submit comments in any of the following ways:

The SAFER Bay Project is an ongoing regional effort to improve resilience to tidal flooding and future sea level rise. The project includes shoreline improvements, habitat restoration and flood-risk reduction measures designed to protect communities along San Francisquito Creek and the Bayfront.
