Economic development

Rosewood, Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park

Economic development in Menlo Park is a robust set of programs and policies designed to help businesses thrive in the city.  Our team acts as a business concierge by helping to coordinate the efforts of other departments to assist potential businesses identify the simplest possible approval process.

Our work is focused on:

  • Helping businesses locate to the city through assistance in the entitlement and permitting processes.

  • Helping existing businesses grow and explore programs within the city and with external organizations to help in their business.

  • Providing support for businesses in our business districts, including Downtown, Belle Haven, and Sand Hill.

  • Working regionally to support and advance local and national policies that advance business growth.

To do this work we partner with a number of agencies, including California’s GoBiz, the region’s Silicon Valley Economic Development Association (SVEDA) and the Chamber of San Mateo County, NOVAworks Workforce Investment Board, and a number of technical assistance and capital readiness organizations.

At the heart of Silicon Valley, Menlo Park is a premier hub for innovation and investment, anchored by Sand Hill Road—one of the world’s leading centers of venture capital—and home to globally recognized companies such as Meta and Robinhood. The city combines a strong base of established enterprises with a vibrant small business ecosystem, supported by a full spectrum of hospitality options from luxury to cost-efficient accommodations. Its diverse, high-quality dining scene further enhances its appeal as a destination for business and talent.

Through our work, we deliver data-driven insights, strategic connections, and targeted resources that support growth, strengthen competitiveness, and advance long-term sustainability for the Menlo Park business community.
