Please join the Planning Commission meeting Monday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers (751 Laurel St.) and via Zoom. The Commission will hold a study session to provide an overview and receive feedback on potential updates to the city’s Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) regulations. The proposed ordinance update will focus on making the City’s accessory dwelling unit development standards consistent with State law and consider whether to implement local objective regulations and design standards.

At the session, the commission will discuss whether to develop or modify objective development standards for:

  • Use permit requests to modify state and/or local ADU regulations

  • Daylight plane requirements for ADUs

  • Internal access between ADUs and primary dwelling units

  • Development of multiple ADUs on a single-family residential property

We invite you to listen to the discussion and share your feedback during the meeting. The agenda and staff report, including a draft of the ordinance, will be available at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting. The proposed amendments will require additional review and action by the Planning Commission and the City Council at future scheduled public meetings anticipated in 2026.
